Abstract

This research aims to describe literacy in the Qur'an: Building a Scientific Tradition and Revelation-Based Civilization. This research method uses library research methods, a type of research that involves the use of resources found in libraries such as books, journals, articles and databases. , to gather information on a specific topic. Literacy in the Al-Quran, especially in Surah Al-Alaq verses 1-5, Al-Isra verse 14, Al-Baqarah verse 44, and At-Taubah verse 122. This analysis shows that the Al-Quran encourages humans to seek knowledge and understanding. through various aspects of literacy. Surah Al-Alaq verses 1-5 emphasize the importance of reading and writing as the main foundation in achieving knowledge and faith. Al-Isra verse 14 teaches the importance of seeking knowledge anywhere and from anyone, even from younger people. Al-Baqarah verse 44 teaches that seeking knowledge aims to increase faith and devotion to Allah SWT. Finally, At-Taubah verse 122 emphasizes the importance of seeking knowledge to distinguish between truth and falsehood. That literacy in Islam is not just about reading and writing, but also about understanding the meaning and values ​​contained therein. The Koran encourages humans to think, reflect and use reason to understand His revelation.
